So, why are you struggling as a Network Marketer? No one ever said success was easy. Still, it’s frustrating to work hard and not be able to meet your goals. Network marketing in particular requires a powerful blend of focus, ambition, and confidence. Let’s look at some common reasons.
Reason #1: You’re not treating it like a business.
Here’s the thing about businesses: they have business hours, policies, and brands. In other words, they’re consistent. They don’t close when the owner doesn’t feel like working, and they don’t sit there on the street corner and passively wait for customers to walk in. Successful businesses are the result of showing up every day.
How to fix it: You’re network marketing because you want a flexible schedule, but that doesn’t mean you can show up whenever you feel like it. Make a schedule for yourself and commit to it. Decide that you’re going to put in the effort to make it big rather than waiting for success to come to you.
Reason #2: You have unrealistic expectations.
Unfortunately, some network marketers make this type of business sound like a get-rich-quick scheme. There’s no way to actually get rich quick with minimal effort. (Sorry.) Like anything worth having, wealth and success stem from hard work. The rewards you reap increase in proportion to the work you put in.
How to fix it: Manage your expectations. You should neither expect riches to roll in with minimal work nor kill yourself trying to make bank. Treat your network marketing business as something to nourish and grow. Money may not grow on trees, but growing a source of wealth is just like growing a tree: it takes time.
Reason #3: You’re not focused on your goals.
Goal-setting is crucial to business success, but you can’t just “set and forget” goals. You must focus on them and strategize ways to put them into action. Network marketing isn’t something that you can vaguely aspire toward: it takes daily, consistent, and strategic effort to build your business.
How to fix it: Translate your daily, weekly, and monthly goals into tasks, then focus your attention on the priorities. It can be helpful to categorize each task for its purpose: are you recruiting new distributors? Presenting to prospects? Training others? Understanding the purpose and impact of each task will help you focus on results.
Reason #4: You’re limiting your personal development.
Business development goes hand-in-hand with personal development. If you’re stuck in your old ways or lack the confidence to put your goals into action, your business will be stuck spinning its wheels. Network marketing in particular requires robust skills in presenting, pitching, and recruiting. It’s okay to start without honing these skills — but you’ll have to develop them to grow your business.
How to fix it: Take the time to attend seminars, work with mentors or coaches, read relevant books, watch informative videos, and so on. Time spent on personal development is never a waste of time. You’ll likely uncover new potential within yourself to meet your goals, and you’ll come off as more confident and capable to others.
Reason #5: You’re stuck in the past.
Sure, it’s important to acknowledge your mistakes, but don’t dwell on them. Too many business owners and network marketers get held upon where they came from rather than where they’re going. Perhaps you’re stuck on old ways of doing things, or you can’t stop saying “what if?” about your past efforts.
How to fix it: Think forward. The past cannot be changed, but the future is up for grabs. Remember those goals and your personal development? That’s something you can start today, even if you had a bad day yesterday. The most successful network marketers don’t live in the past: they live for the future.
Hopefully, there were one or two that resonated for you, and you can do a deeper dive and make some changes to put your back on track.
